Artist’s Commentary

nspired from the passage in 1 Peter 2: 20-22, this drawing of Noah’s Ark is unlikely what it really looked like. However, from the Grand Canyon, to the Australian Outback to Mt. St. Helen there is a boatload of powerful evidence to the floodwater that covered the earth in Noah’s day. Just like it was the wood of the Ark saving the eight inside from the devastation outside, so too does the Church today that renders it’s focus on the wood of the cross of Jesus Christ administered to us in the Word & water of our Baptism. This is the Ark of the Church where Jesus saves us and truly what the Church must look like if it to resemble God’s original design. Using God’s elements & means and never our own contrived means. So it is indeed wood and water that have become for us life and salvation. The Scripture verse from 1 Peter 2:21-22 is written in Greek around the image.
